Troop 79 was originally chartered in September of 1962 as one of the youth programs of the new Saint Robert's Bellarmine Parish . The troop started with 14 Boys, Henry Drouin was the first Scoutmaster. In 1963 the Troop grew to 18 Boys and was joined for two years by an Explorer Post of Sea Scouts. The first Eagle Scouts were recognized in 1965. The Troop has had the good fortune of strong Scoutmaster Leadership and had over 50 Boys attend the West Point Camporee in the late 70's under the direction of Scout master Dr. Frank Griggs. The troop is very active and we would welcome you to join us!

OUR FOCUS
The Focus of the Troop is to develop Boy Leaders by providing skills training, character development and opportunities for boys to lead. The goals and program are described in the Troop Parents manual. Troop 79 is chartered to Saint Robert's Bellarmine Parish in West Andover, Massachusetts by the Spirit of Adventure Council of the Boy Scouts of America located in Woburn Massachusetts. Troop 79 is included in the West Wind District of the Council.

NEW to SCOUTING
If you’re new to Boy Scouting or new to Troop 79 or you’re just looking around to decide where you son might want to spend his scouting years, it’s important that both you and the scout understand the underlying philosophy of Scouting and how that philosophy is implemented in Troop 79. The National Scouting Office in Dallas, provides the professional support and over-all policy-making for the Boy Scouts of America. The local Spirit of Adventure Council employs several full-time Scouting professionals.

VOLUNTEER
The success of the Troop and the strong traditions are based on strong participation by parents in the many roles that need to be filled. Please volunteer to help out and take on a responsibility for the Troop and help your son and other boys grow.
